Mossy Makeover Menagerie

Happy Monday, I have a menagerie of mossy makeovers (thrifty, no less!) to show you.
Remember last spring when everyone had those bunnies on a stick.....

I had some leftover moss that I wanted to use, and I remembered Miss Mustard Seed came up with a great idea. You can check her site here.
I have a silver rose bowl that was a wedding gift a thousand years ago and was tucked away in a cabinet.
Add a scrunched up plastic grocery bag....hot glue the super moss on top.......

And there you have it!

I know gazillions of people have been making moss balls, but I'm slow....that is it takes me a while to decide I would like to have something in my house. So.....just a little more hot glue on a styrofoam ball....add the super moss......

And place it atop this silver cup that Debbie at Confessions of a Plate Addict and I found while thrifting. Only $2.50 each!

You can take this little gem anywhere....

Or how about a moss ball in a small silver Revere bowl in a grouping with the faux plant on the right ($1.51-GW and doesn't it look real?!) You will notice Nina's Nest on the left : )

My artistic shot - TA DA!

OK, last week some of you liked the clean look on the PB inspired mantel, and some of you liked the books in the middle. It looked like this......

I love the simple clean look, but I sort of slipped in a few layers (I can't help myself!) I put 1 book under the fleur de lis and then added a wicker charger behind the white vases (which I staggered from large to small TO large, small, medium). Again, I saw something similar in Savvy Southern Style (I think) and liked the texture of the wicker. Whaddaya think?

I hope you have a great Monday. And now for the latest transformation.....I am wearing glasses today. Yep, I lost a gas permeable contact lens last night. While taking it out (which I have done a hundred million times) it hit my hand and popped somewhere. After spending 30 minutes on the floor, checking inside/outside my clothing, etc., I have deducted that it hit the sink and bounced in that little overflow hole on the back of the sink. Who'd a thought? If Kentucky had shot like that in the basketball game last night, they would have won! Tomorrow at 9am I'll be ordering another lens. Wish Kentucky could have another try, too!
Hey, my daughter Mindy is joining a couple of parties. She did an amazing makeover on 2 GW lamps. Check her site.
OK, I'm joining these great ladies for their parties:
Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday
Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for Today's Thrifty Treasures
Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday
Linda at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday
May you have a wonderful week leading up to Easter - a most GLORIOUS DAY! Linda

Oh I love the idea of putting the trash bag in the bowl and then glueing the moss to it. That sure saves the price of one of those styrofoam balls and large ones are kinda spendy. The small moss balls are just perfect. I love your silver cups, you and Debbie find some of the neatest things.
I love your mantel. It looks just gorgeous. I like the urns, wicker and the plants. Everything looks so pretty. Thanks also for joining the party this week. This is so much fun and such great inspiration. Hugs, Marty

I love the moss balls and nest! The ideas are endless. But where do you find such green moss? Our Michael's carries Spanish and reindeer moss, but nothing so mossy green! I would love to make something for spring.

Your mantel looks great both ways. I love to see a fresh plant and the basket weave piece looks great!

Don't worry, Linda, I just made my first moss ball last week {and a topiary}. I don't think it's that we're slow; I think it's just that we've got lots of projects to work on and every one has to take a number! I love the moss ball in the silver cup.

Linda-Don't you love moss balls!? Your silver bowl is gorgeous--you should keep it out all the time. You are so funny about Kentucky :)! We are not U of Memphis fans but I don't think anyone here is crying over Caliperi's loss.

Trash bag - that's genius! Love your silver bowl. Very pretty.

I hope you'll drop by AtticMag and give JaneT some advice for her headboard to bench project.

I think I saw those moss balls in the silver containter over at Miss Mustard Seed (missmustardseed.blogspot.com), she did a tutorial on how she made them.
Nice repurposing job! I keep reusing my moss over and over again too.

I'm a moss lovin' girl over here myself! I love all that you've done!

So sorry about the contact lens. It's always something isn't it!

Oh, I love how they turned out! Your mossy bowls look so elegant and it's such a simple way to use a pretty bowl or cup that was found at a yard sale or thrift store.

I just bought a footed bowl at a thirft store this week and I didn't realize it was a rose bowl! Now, I know!

Love those mossy treasures, looks great as an accent. I bought 2 more bunnies on a stick this year, to make it 3 total.

I wear gas perms too, I know how those things can bounce! :)

I love your homemade moss ball. Everything looks great!

Everything you did looks lovely.

I sympathize with the looking. I've probably spent at least a day of my life since I've married my husband looking for his when they pop out (he has Kerataconus so it happens frequently)...

I am quite adept at finding those suckers and we've had some remarkable 'saves' but we've lost them too and they are spendy.

Can I steal your idea? I do like the wicker plate. It seems to add 'life'. I don't know what I mean...I really like it a lot though.

I still love my bunny on a stick and am surprised I'm not seeing more of them this year since they were everywhere last year!

That's a really good idea for the moss! Those Styrofoam balls are crazy expensive!

Everything looks beautiful!
