Frenchie Toile Bathroom

I'm featuring my daughter's makover of her downstairs bath - Frenchie style!
First, she painted the walls a richer, deeper tan color.


Then she used her toile shower curtain.

She got this adorable "Le Bain" towel holder at HobLob for 50% off.

Note the iron table and black iron wall thingey. She used her French "Gabrielle Salon de Beauté" sign.

The tall ceilings allowed her to hang another French sign above the shower curtain.

I love the little black shelf and the pot (found in her basement). Basically she just shopped the house to redo this bathroom. I love it, 'cause when we spend the night there, this is our bathroom!!

I found this little girl at GW for $1.50.....she looks "at home" in my black and white toile grandie bedroom - especially with her sunflower.

Love this nice sized scrolly mirror (GW $2.50).

I cleaned it and hung it in my closet with an open-weave burlap tie. Love it. Now maybe I'll put on my lipstick BEFORE I leave home!

Phone booth shower gets update

Welcome to my 2nd official makeover for Metamorphosis Monday, which is hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Be sure to visit her site where you will find lots of wonderful decorating inspiration!

Imagine this....an offset area from the master bedroom with:

a. 30 year old stained cabinets
b. white Formica countertops

c. tired sink and fixtures

d. carpet

Imagine this, too.....the bath just off the offset area with:

a. 30 year old "grout-challenged" octagonal white tile

b. shower that we jokingly called Superman phone booth

Now, handy hubby decides to rip out all tile, cabinets, sinks, tub, potty and fixtures...yea!

First he installs beautiful French doors to separate the bedroom from the offset area.

As the doors open, you see a cabinet with granite counter . We had a full bevelled glass mirror installed to add height and the light fixtures are installed on top of the mirror - again making the most of a small space.

Really love this cabinet - bought it on line and was very pleased. It was soooooo heavy. My hubby, son, and son-in-law had to carry it upstairs and it made me a nervous wreck! We chose bronze fixtures and lighting. Also had some recessed lighting installed.

This goofy photo shows you a bit of the pocket door that hubby installed - it really opened up the bath area and took advantage of the window in the bathroom.

Hubby has a little shaving sink in the bath area....got this online as well. Couldn't hide the pipes, but it is so cute in person that we don't care.

Hubby built this handy shelving above the potty for some attractive storage.

We chose subway tile to go around the tub.

The shower has large 12 x 12 tile (as does the bathroom floor), along with a decorative band of diamond shaped tile (same as on the shower floor). We really like the Tuscan look of this tile.

The old shower had tile all the way up on the half wall. We decided to have seamless glass installed everywhere, which greatly opened our little Superman phone booth shower. Also have a double head shower fixture- fixed & hand held.

Also, notice how you get the reflection of the window and the light fixtures over the shaving sink in the shower. It's an optical illusion that again creates more space. Quite accidental! We could have had an enormous shower, but we would have had to ditch the bathtub, and I'm a tub gal, myself.

Also had recessed lighting installed in bathroom - really makes a difference!

I wish I could show you the beautiful crown mold and base mold trim that hubby added. He is so handy!!!! But I really need to get back to cleaning out some closets.
