Accidental Decorating - in the Dining Room

Did you ever have plans for one room
that ended up in another?
I love my deep red and green in my bedroom
in the fall and winter, but I thought it would be
nice  to have a lighter look in the bedroom
for summer.
So one year ago....  Yes, one year ago,
I made these 2 pillows and found 2
bird prints that would be part of the
lighter, cooler bedroom for summer.

However,
they ended up in the dining room....
a perfect match with the wall color....

The bird prints balanced
each other on either side of the
vaisselier.
(BTW, almost all my white dishes, etc.,
were collected over time from GW!)

This cabinet was shoved to the right a little bit,
with another pillow added.
The black and white pencil drawings were done
by my daughter about 15 years ago.
All of the blue-green hydrangeas were dried
from my garden last year and placed in this GW basket....long and low.
I like centering the picture arrangement over the chair
and chest combined, rather than just the chest.
Good thinking, Daughter!

(Yes, there are 3 different styles of chairs in the dining room.
There is a story why.
I'm glad variety is popular right now 'cause we have that!)
I love bird cages!
This one is flanked by a pair of candle holders
that my grandmother gave us for our wedding 43 years ago!
I painted them Heirloom White last year while in a painting frenzy : )

My antique box from old closet shelving
made it to the dining room.

And it all started when daughter suggested that
we add a pillow to the chair!

Thanks, Daughter, for another redo -
I love everything you did!
Guess that nixes the plan for a summer bedroom,
but, hey, the pillows and pictures had
been gathering dust in a closet
for a year!
Do you ever have a plan take
an abrupt hard right and morph into
something you hadn't planned....
and yet, you like it - maybe even better?!
Blessings to you,
Linda

Miss Mustard Seed Inspiration (& a little perspiration!)

Here's a little inspiration (aka "copy cat")
If you don't know her - which is almost impossible to imagine -
then she is:
"The Slipcover Star"
"The Perfector of Painted Furniture"
"The Music Wreath Mama"
"The Drop Cloth Diva"
And much more!
I am joining the "Copy Me Challenge" that she issued.
I was inspired by MMS to slipcover an ottoman.....

Paint an old stool.....

Slipcover a chair....
Make a cushion for the ottoman....
Paint my Grammy's telephone table & chair....

Make a music wreath....

Bleach (with her directions) drop cloths
and make panels for the dining room.....

Upholster 4 antique chairs with a drop cloth and double piping.....

Paint 6 Hepplewhite chairs Heirloom White.....

And paint a brass lamp Heirloom White.
(BTW, I have a new, round burlap shade....forgot to take a photo.)

That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!
Thanks, Miss Mustard Seed, for sharing your
creativity with Blogland.
I am happy to copy you!
Blessings to you, MMS, and to you readers!
Linda

My Dining Room at Christmas

I can't believe Christmas is one week away!
I don't have all the wreaths on the windows
(looks like that won't happen), and
the dining room table is not set -
but there's plenty of time for that.
I am trying out lots of silver and white this year in the dining room.
Unfortunately, it doesn't photograph well (maybe that's the fault of the photographer!),
but it looks good in person.

I tried Debbie's (@Confessions of a Plate Addict) sheet music trick
on the candles.

I used a mix of mercury glass, gold and copper.

Christmas in the hutch......

Greenery, pears, votives...

I added a little red to the table....

along with my hurricane candleholders - a wedding gft from my sweet Grammy
41 years ago!
I spray painted them Heirloom White for a fresh new look!
My mom's milk glass compote is in the center of the table.

Still enjoying my burlap runner.

Such a bargain to make - $7!

Hope you have a peaceful week before Christmas.
