Dining Room Decorating at Midnight - Am I Crazy?

Do you ever start a creative project at midnight? Recently my sister-in-law and brother-in-law spent several days with us. One evening, while looking at our re-arranged dining room we had this conversation:

Sister-in-law - What's that under the dining room table?

me - Um...my mother's silver tea set.

SIL - Get it off the floor!

me - OK
So then I added some plates for color and a plant and....there you have it.

me - I don't like my dining room table top.
SIL - Do you have any pears for the bowl?
me - Oh, yeah, down in the basement.
SIL - Go get 'em.
me - Here they are.
SIL - Perfect! Where did you get them?
me - From GW - just liked them, but hadn't done anything with them yet.
SIL - Do you have any candlesticks?
me - How about these gold grooved candlesticks.
SIL - Love 'em! Where did you get them?
me - 10 cents each at a garage sale.

me - How about this cabinet - it's boring.
SIL - Let's put the tureen there.
me - OK. And maybe some books? (I love books!)
SIL - OK, something else.....hum......
me - How about these birds?
SIL - Fabulous! Don't tell me you got them for 99 cents or I'll scream.
me - Well, they were 88 cents each at GW
SIL - ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We laughed ourselves silly at midnight!
One more thing....ever try to make a daybed with a trundle? Don't! It's insane! We had company 3 times in 10 days and I had to do this 3 times!!!

But while I was at it, I added a little rug that I had rolled up under the crib!

Also, had to add the little thrifty $4 bench for the grandies to climb into the bed.
I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday. You'll love her site - full of great ideas and other participants.
I'll also be joining Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for her wonderful Tabletop Party on Tuesday. She is always coming up with new and wonderful vignettes.
I'm sharing my bargains at The Nifty Thrifty Tuesday party, hosted by Linda at Coastal Charm.
Be sure to check out the bargains.
Oh, one more thing.....don't start any projects at midnight! Linda

I thought I was the only one who did such silly things. lol I love the transformations. YOur table is wonderful and the silver service is fabulous on the buffet, now that tureen is also wonderful. You really did make some gorgeous vignettes. I always think it is a lot more fun when someone else is here to make suggestions. Very pretty. Thanks for linking to TTT. Hugs, Marty

I love your daybed set! I wish I could do a project at midnight. The knowledge that I have to get up for work the next morning keeps me from starting anything after 10:00!

Hi Linda,
Your silver service set is really a gorgeous piece! So glad you got it out from under the table! All of your finds are wonderful and I love your creative ideas! Great trundle daybed too. I think the guests should have to make their own bed! LOL. Hugs, Cindy

I need your sister in law!! She is quite the motivator. My daughter is a lot like that. She 'shops the house' and does things I would never have thought to do, yet we are so alike, I love it. And I love your tea set and tureen and little birds and the arrangement on your dining room table. Great post, Linda!

Hahaha...I know what you mean about company and making beds...we have a lot of college kids coming....lots of beds all over the floor. I was informed by my son that guys wouldn't share beds it just wasn't cool...so they are everywhere! Big smile.

Hello there sweet Linda,

My, how pretty; such an inspiration, so many great ideas!

I enjoyed reading the conversational style prose regarding the 'after midnight forray into decorating delights' with your sister -in- law; how precious!.., You folks did a great job!!

I want to also warmly invite you as a fellow participant of 'Tablescape Tuesday' to also visit 'my little corner of the blogging world' where you just may feel that you 'tumbled down the proverbial rabbit hole' of Alice In Wonderland!..,

..,(Although not about that story at all, per se; yet it is the whimsical element of this weeks post that I hope you'll thoroughly enjoy)!

Cheers and hugs from Wanda Lee @ The lume

I just dropped by from Normandy Life and read this post and had to giggle, sugar! I also blog sometimes about conversations with hubby—Love Bunny— like this: He. She. He. She. Chatting back and forth. I usually put it in my Random Thoughts and this post reminded me of them. Nice to meet you, chick! I've also a grandmother becoming a great grandmother in a couple of month. Squeeeeeal. Cannot wait to see my new great granddaughter. Aren't they fun?!
