Met Monday & Thrifty Finds

Welcome to another double post - Met Monday for some fabulous makeovers, hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch

and Today's Thrifty Treasures for some great thrift shopping, hosted by Rhoda at Southern Hospitality.
A while back I bought 2 of these French botanical prints at a thrift store (2 for $4.94)and then found 2 more at GW. Well, I finally finished my project.
I painted the mats.

And I painted the frames.
That looks a lot better, doesn't it?!
Where have I put them? Well, first, I LOVE our bedroom in the fall and winter, but thought it would be nice to have a lighter look for the spring and summer. First - the fall look.....
I moved the quilt for spring/summer and folded back the red spread, and replaced it with a creamy matelasse (another GW find - never used). Then I put the botanical prints over the bed.

I'll go back to the red spread with the red & green quilt in the fall and winter, along with the darker pictures over the bed, but for now, we are enjoying the lighter, cooler look.

Check out this pair of 18 inch bronze metal sconce for $5 a pair at a garage sale. The seller's hubby didn't like them - thought they looked like deer antlers! My daughter liked them!

Don't forget to stop by Susan's at Between Naps on the Porch and Rhoda's at Southern Hospitality.Happy Monday, and Happy Thrifting! Linda

I love the new summer look and the botanicals look gorgeous over the bed. I am just now starting to change rooms for the seasons and I have to say I think it is more fun. I use to leave things the same way for years, but just a few accessory changes makes such a huge difference. Your wall sconces are gorgeous also. Great finds. Hugs, Marty

Linda I just love it!! I don't even have an offical Fall/Winter look and now you have a Spring/Summer look, too. LOL

This makes me really want to jump in there and re-do my own room. So if I go max out the credit cards this week - I will tell Mr Grits its ALL your fault. :-)

Thanks so much for sharing these yummy pics. Hugs, Barb

I love botanical prints, any botanical print and they're getting so hard to find now.

They're perfect in the black frames. And hung horizonally over the head of the bed is wonderful.

Great job!

The prints look nice and new now!

I love the "redone" bed for spring! See, that shows you can have darker colors that still look nice and new in the warmer months. My bedroom is pumpkin, browns and sage green...I do the same..white coverlet/quilt with the darker shams and folded up dark comforter at the bottom.

Sorry I am so tardy in posting, but I love the Redoute botanical prints, and I have the same red Camellia. You did a beautiful job with the frames, and they look smashing above your bed. You have me hooked on that color scheme! I see we have similar tastes for the red...
