Welcome to another exciting Met Monday hosted by the wonderful Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. You'll want to check out her site to see what great ideas she has posted, as well as find out who else is participating.I volunteered to bake and decorate the Easter Lamb Cake. We begin with the mold.
Then I baked the cake, followed cooling directions, and iced him.Look at this cute little guy. He has flowers around his neck and a blue bow on his wooly head.
Uh Oh, is he leaning?

Okay, his head fell off!!!!!! I didn't have the heart to take a picture of a headless lamb. I decided to "sleep on it" and then Sunday morning I put a wooden skewer on the neck, extra icing on the exposed cake, then plopped the head back on.
Poor little thing, his face was smushed. but I added more icing and more flowers and - voilà! Here he is - not his former self, but repaired - a metamorphosis! You can see that he is nestled in his coconut "straw".
I can assure you that there was no difference in the taste of the cake - just more icing - and that's not a bad thing! Hope you enjoyed our little lamb's metamorphosis. Don't forget to stop by Susan's at Between Naps on the Porch. I know you'll enjoy it! Linda (Oh, by the way, my sweet daughter gave my blog site a new "dress" for Easter... I love it! Thanks "M"!

This would SO be my luck--scaring the kids with a lamb whose head falls off! He is adorable and all's well that ends well!
P.S. Love the new look!
*Thanks for the warm chuckle~~~ it's so delightful to see someone who can ENJOY the humor in things! (And THIS is why I don't bake... it would be "the norm" for me! Smiles!). KNOW you had a wonderful N' happy Easter anyway, & that's what counts MOST! Best, Linda *
Well done...we've all done projects that needed a little extra TLC...nice save...
Ohhhhh....lol...lol...I'm sorry..I can't even stop laughing to think in French!! What a hoot!! You certainly managed to save the day, Linda. A headless lamb cake might have frightened the grandies!! (music from "Psycho" inserted here...eeek, eeek, eeek, eeek)
I hope you had a wonderful Easter!!!...hugs...Debbie
Ohhhh...je riais si fort que j'ai oublié de vous dire que...j'adore le nid!!!
Bless you for sharing this! If only you knew my adventures in failed cakes. LOL It never fails that when you need a cake to be pretty and perfect, it isn't! Oh well....thank goodness for bakeries! Thx for sharing, Barb
The lamb looked like he was struggling a little in the beginning, but I am sure he is a much sweeter lamb now!! This was funny; I needed a little laugh to perk me up a bit.
Oh yes, the new header looks great.
Woo Hooness! You knew how to save the day for the little lambie pie cake! It's precious! I'm sure he tasted good, too!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :0
The cake looks yummy. Oh darn, you had to use more icing to keep his head on. I'll take that piece.

Scotty is still mad at Molly that we had to leave without any lamb cake! Can't wait to see your pictures!
What a big fat bummer after all that work! But you are so right...still tastes the same! Love the lambkin!
m ^..^
Linda, This little lamb cake is precious. You did a great job! ;) ~CC Catherine
RUT RO! Well - no matter if it leaned a bit, it was still a great, and I mean, GREAT Easter Lamb! Lovely on all accounts! I wish I could decorate a cake as nicely! :)
Despite all of the troubles, he is absolutely adorable, and I'm sure he was delicious! You had a good attitude about it, and you did a good job. laurie
Linda,
This is so darn cute! My lamb's head would have fallen off for sure but look how good he became again. That cake mold is just perfect for Easter, Cindy
I love your new bloggy dress too! cindy
Oh what a cute little guy! You did a great job!
He's even cuter just knowing what he's been through! I bet everyone just loved him....yum!
Someone else who baked a lamb cake! when I was a young girl, I would help my grandmother the week before Easter as she make over 20 lambs for her family and neighbors.
Great job!
when I watch Ace of Cakes, they use dowels and all kinds of stuff to help hold the cakes up. You did really good!
Linda,
Your post really put a smile on my face. Poor little lamb sort of lost his way or should I say his head. It is amazing what a little more icing can do to fix up a cake. I bet there was not a bit of that cute lamb left on the plate!

Sorry to laugh at the lamb's misfortune, but it was too funny!!! I could just picture his head falling off. Why it makes me laugh, I don't know, but it does. Thanks!
Just proves what I've said for years, a little more icing can't hurt! lol. This is too funny, what a great save. Hope you had a wonderful Easter. Kathy (love the new blog dress!)
Poor little lamb lost his lid! Looks goog enough to eat anyway, life happens! It made a great Met Monday post...~Cathy~
