A Hutch Re-do

Welcome to yet another Metamorphosis Monday which is hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Be sure to visit her site where she will be doing a master reveal today. Also, there will be lots of other grand ideas from Bloggerville!

Today I'll show what happened to our GW find from last week.

Here's the top of the hutch. You will note a little decorative railing trim on the second shelf. Hubby sawed that off to allow for more space for books, etc. He also thought it would update this Ethan Allen piece a little.
The bottom has 2 drawers on the top, and then two double drawers below(with 4 pulls).

Here's the operation - a paint job.

Now they're looking better.

Okay, the hutch is all dressed up in white plates, etc. Woohoo!

Now it's all dressed up in blue and white. I know you blue & white gals like that.

HOWEVER, I must not forget the original purpose of the mini-hutch - to hold hubby's stuff, i.e. pictures from his desk, books, etc.

He got rid of the lamp : (

Well, that's okay because it's his to use as office storage. Nevertheless, he let me play with it for a while. I'm sure it will look different from this very soon. After all, it is for him and his storage, isn't it? Hmmmmmm.....Oh, well. I gotta give him a break : )
Don't forget to stop by Susan's at Between Naps on the Porch....you'll get some great ideas and see who else is participating in Met Monday. Happy Monday! Linda

What a great transformation. It looks wonderful!! I have said it a million times to people, but it is amazing what a couple of coats of paint will do to something.

Maybe in time you could sneak this great piece away from your husband.... I love it with all of the white & blue & white pieces.

That looks great! I have something very similar in one of the boys' rooms that is now a spare bedroom. I would love to refinish the furniture in there. The difference in yours is striking!

Hi Nina! That looks great and I love that you placed it against the red wall. Are you a UGA fan?

My favorite is the picture of dad, hard at work! It really turned out well, and I'm sure it looks great with my iron bed! Can't wait to see it in person!

Looks really good -- of course, my favorite is the one with the blue and white -- but I understand that it was for DH!

Trash to treasure! I love the white dishes on it, but I understand hubby's needs.

great job using two pieces and making one! Love it! (especially with blue/white dishes!)

Love this ... I'm going through a manic black stage lately, and anything/everything painted black looks so fresh and crisp to me. Love your hutch with dishes in it, especially the plain white ones, but it looks just as nice with hubby's things on it.
