A Charming Cottage Re-do!

I am so excited to show you this charming cottage re-do!
Several years ago my sister-in-law and hubby decided to move closer to grandchildren and downsize.
They were looking for a fixer-upper.  My brother-in-law is very talented and skilled
in all things having to do with building, carpentry, and design. He did most of the work himself!
I was so amazed at the vision they both had for this house.
Wait till you see the before and after pics......you won't believe it!
This 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch definitely qualified as a fixer-upper!
(Actually, it became a 4 bedroom, 3 bath home!)
Check out the before pics (taken from their photos!)
front view

Don't you love the big shrubby, weedy thing blocking the front door?!

How about the backyard with its volleyball net...

More view of the backyard with its interesting assortment of...uh....stuff.

Now, after the raising of the roof line in the front,
a new roof with architectural shingles,
fresh light paint on the brick,
a wonderful porch,
and lots of gravel and flagstone walkways.....ta da!

Look at the welcoming wicker settee!

Lots of walkways everywhere, as well as a bazillion new plants and shrubs!

A walkway to the back of the house....

Check out the covered porch with ceiling fans, table & chairs and lots of seating.

Here's the new entry into a charming back hallway that was previously part of a carport.

How about this outdoor kitchen!!!

Here are a couple of little outdoor vignettes......just a few of MANY!

I can't wait to show you the inside of this wonderful home.  My sis-in-law loves vintage accessories and has acquired many special items both from antiquing and from family heirlooms.  She has a wonderful sense of style that is both attractive and inviting.  I'll be back with more soon.
Here's the outside again - I just love it!

Stay tuned for an inside tour!
Blessings to you,
Linda

It's simply beautiful! And, it's exactly what we're looking to do. We're selling our current home in order to downsize. We are looking for a fixer-upper to renovate.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Visiting from French Country Cottage. :)

Linda, I've just become your new follower and want to thank you for stopping by and commenting today. Today I set goals to making some of those braided rag rugs.
I just love these photos of the fixer upper. What really caught my attention is how the roof was raised. We have a fixer upper with a loft that either requires the roof to be raised a couple of feet or close the loft in and use it as storage. At this point we are planning to close it in for storage. Maybe later we can raise the roof and expand. We had a beautiful plan designed to completely remodel. However, we've decided to keep it small. The designer came by today. So here we go again...more plans!
