Remembering

One of my favorite trips to France involved
Normandy and the D-Day Landing Beaches.
This is the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach.
As we entered, I overheard a young French schoolboy
telling his classmate (who was being loud and silly),
"Shhhhh, be quiet, these men died for France!"

As we were leaving at the end of the day,
the chimes began playing
"America the Beautiful".
Sniff sniff.

Also at Omaha,
the wall has the names of missing soldiers.
It's an awesome sight.

I'm aware that this is just one war memorial....
how many have paid the ultimate price?
More than we can imagine.
I'm thankful for the courage, dedication, honor, sacrifice
of valiant soldiers past and present
who "more than self their country loved".

Thank you to all the freedom fighters.
We wouldn't be here without you.
May God bless,
Linda
