This is my guest bedroom.
I've never shown it before.
And, actually, it continues to be a "work in progress",
even though I started 10 years ago!
Do you have a room like that?
The colors are khaki and purple - yikes!
(It was my daughter's suggestion)
Maybe they aren't in style now, but 10 years ago they were,
and, well, I have just never tired of this room!
My inspiration was this pillow from T. J. Maxx.

The colors really don't photograph true to tone, but
the sheets are khaki
the spread is white matelasse
and I made the plaid bedskirt to coordinate with the pillow.

I saw this afghan in a Coldwater Creek catalogue
and thought - perfect colors!
Who'd a thunk? They sell clothing!

The bedside table is a sofa end table
with a GW tray on top.
The bowl is from a family member - over 100 years old!

The green glass lamp came from Tarjay
It is sitting on a HUGE unabridged dictionary
from the flea market.
It's a fun item!
You need me to look up a word?

Got this chair years ago at a flea market.
It has great detail, but it is just crying for some paint
so that you can SEE the detail
Can't decide ...white, cream,
distressed green, etc....
The fabric has a deep purple background.
This little needlepoint pillow fits right in with the color scheme.
OK, I can't believe I'm showing this! This chair wants to be slipcovered...it told me so.
I haven't gotten around to it!
This quirky bedroom has 2 dormer windows.
One is decorated like this.......

(Oh, that's a French dictionary....I have a "thing" for words - evidently.)

That's my office.
It has doors to close when we have guests,
and it looks really nice.
However, truth be told, this is its regular messy state!
I cannot tell a lie.

Recently I found this GW office chair for $10...
It says "Williams Sonoma" on the underside!
I think I'm gonna paint it black to match the armoire...
or white.....or not.......

Also, found this handy $15 chest at a yard sale
It's going to be painted, too.
I think.
I need to get some color coordination going here.
(Daughter, what do you think?)

Well, there it is....
A work in progress....
Now that I see these pics, I can see that I need to get to work!

I'm joining these parties:
Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday
Linda at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday
Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday
Have a wonderful week! Blessings to you! Linda

See that armoire?

I really like the color scheme. The throw is a great find from Coldwater Creek.
I love that room but especially love the collection of framed photos in the pretty basket. That way they take up less room and I get to use my large collection of frames (I'm addicted). I may borrow that idea, if you don't mind!
Love your header and your new title and your guest room is great! What's wrong with purple? Trend or no trend it is a great color!!!!

What a pleasant space to hang out in - so full of light and treasures. I say paint your new office chair :). You know what I truly adore? The photos in the frames in the basket. I so want to copy that somewhere. I need to get me some frames. *hugs* Kim
It's lovely! I like the color combo and I don't usually like purple. Very serene looking.

I can't believe you don't consider the room finished--mine is so much less "together"! I used to have that same hydrangea print framed just like that (the one over the bed.)
Linda, I really think your guest room color combination is awesome! I have a purple and sage green room & always get compliments on it. My mother made me a quilt years ago around these colors and so I used it as the focal point and I too find the colors very fun and I never tire of them. The bedskirt is fabulous! Great job! I love the French Dictionary open...and the nice thick one on the night stand. I have a vintage autograph book in my blue/pink guest room and my guests just love reading that thing. Some of the funniest little sayings are in it. Enjoyed my visit today! :) Hugs~ ~CC Catherine
I like it a lot Linda!
And your office area looks neat and tidy to me.
I think you have some great projects in the works, can't wait to see how they turn out.
Hugs,
Cindy
Such a pretty and warm guest room. I adore that bed. Gorgeous. I think the chair would look good distressed green.

Hi Linda...
My friend, I love, love, LOVE your beautiful guest room/office! It's such a spacious room and I love the dormer windows! I love how you centered the bed on the wall between the dormer windows...a beautiful and dramatic arrangement! Okay, I have to tell you...I just love your khaki and plum color combination...I think it's gorgeous! The bed linens are sooo beautiful! I love the mix of floral and plaid fabric patterns! Ohhh...and could that pretty throw from Clearwater Creek have been any more perfect? I love it! Well my friend, you have some really beautiful pieces in this room! And...you know, most of our homes are a continual "work in progress"! Hehe! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful guest room with us...it's lovely!!!
Warmest autumn wishes,

You have a lot to paint but I think it is off to being a great guest room. I LOVE that you have dictionaries in the room. I am a word nerd too:)
I'm going to go with black for the chair and the wall color or 1 shade darker than the wall color for the tv stand. What do you think?
