Chairs and Little Things

A while back
I posted about reupholstering a chair.
The chair was 1 of 4 that were very special to my MIL.
We inherited these chairs.
While they were beautiful in her dining room,
the fabric didn't work in our dining room at all.

Instead of redoing them with gimp

I made double cording. (I posted about this a few weeks ago.)

I've noticed double cording everywhere

You can see that I followed the original path of the trim around the chair.

However, sometimes it's just the little things
that make a difference...
a more polished difference.

Like following the lines of the arms of the chair.

So I finished up the other 3 chairs (yeah!!!!)
And I'm going to re-do the cording on the 4th.
This little thing makes a big difference to me.

One more little thing.....
The bare wood below the mantel top - too big and bland.

Add a little medallion .......

and reverse the fireplace screen to allow room for a plant.

Sometimes it's the little touches that make a big difference.

Blessings to you. Linda

Oh your chair is beautiful! I just purchased two very similar to it. Crossing my fingers mine turn out half as nicely as yours did!

Oui...oui! That's the extent of my French. Oh, and I can say lets go to the beach, haha. I taught Preschool/Kindergarten ESL. Fun to see that you were a teacher. This chair turned out fabulous. Fabric is great for changing the "look". I also, like the double piping. Classic with a twist. Thanks for sharing!

You did a fantastic job with the chairs. Double cording must be difficult...I like your eye for detail! And I love the medallion on your mantel front. I never thought to turn my screen around, but that is an excellent idea...it looks great with the plant. Can I borrow the idea?! ;-D

Jane

The chair is beautiful. I agree the double cording makes a big difference. I went back and read your tutorial on it and then ran to my sewing machine to see if I have a double cording foot for my machine. And I do. Guess I should put it to use now.

I love this chair. Love. it. The open back is so amazing. Next time I do a chair I'm going to try to fake it by leaving the back off. So nice.

What a difference! The chairs are gorgeous...love that pillow. But, the cording detail is what makes it look so custom and decorator. Very nice!
