Flea Market Sale!!

A retiring flea marketer (is that a word?) marked everything down the last week of business, and then took 50% off that!

Debbie @Confessions of a Plate Addict and I happened to be there at the right time. This tall white container with greenery was $3. You might wonder why I would buy something that looked wilted.....trust me, it's really, really real looking!

Other items under $10 were: this handpainted rooster wooden platter....rather large.....

Two clear glass containers - including the lemons......

And this heavy, large metal basket!

Here's my makeover project: My MIL left a box of costume jewelry, pins, earrings, etc. Knowing no one would wear them, I wanted to do something special for the 6 great-granddaughters - all under 7. Sooooooo, I found these little glass flower pots, collected some ribbon, and chose the appropriate jewelry for the appropriate child. (Glass flower pots are votives for 99 cents each from HobLob. Michael's has them, too.)

I hot glued white ribbon around the top of the pots. Then I ran ribbon through the jewelry item, tied it, and hot glued it to the pot. I made 9 of these, but some of my pics were too dark, so here are a few samples.

The 2 below are for 2 of the grown granddaughters.

Below is another one for a grown granddaughter.

I hoped it would be a meaningful little keepsake for the little girls to put their own jewelry/treasures/etc. in and they all seemed to like them. It's better than keeping the things in a box!

I'm joining:
Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday
Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for Today's Thrifty Treasures
Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tabletop Tuesday
Linda at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Treasures
One more thing........
"Lest we forget".....D-Day......June 6, 1944........Normandy, France.......so many Americans - fathers, grandfathers, uncles, friends - died that others might live......

Have a happy week. Blessings, Linda

I really like what you did w/the costume jewelry. I have quite a bit from my soon-to-be 89 year old mother & I'm going to start looking for the little glass pots to do the same. . . give them to her great grand daughters. What a great idea!

Oh I love this idea. Each one is so precious and what a special memento of her. I know they will think they are just fabulous. Love the rooster and the iron basket, how fun are they. The white vase with the greenery does look real. So much better than flowers for a change. Great vignette. Thanks so much for linking to the party. Hugs, Marty
