Nooks and Crannies

We have some nooks and crannies located in our upstairs dormer windows. Do you have pictures in a spot that you keep adding to and adding to until you could just gag on all the pictures and you don't even appreciate the ones that are there? It's kind of like eating too much cheesecake or too much pecan pie (is that really possible?).

Anyway, I REMOVED about 9 frames and was left with this.......still a traffic jam!

So I took a cute large white GW ($2) pot from the other dormer and removed all but 3 pics.
BTW, this dormer has doors (hiding great storage) built by hubby.

The other dormer has too much greenery and is just blah.....

I filled a GW $2 basket with the framed pics.....out of the traffic jam, but not completely out of sight. (Hubby also built these drawers in this dormer area. Honestly, that man can build anything!)

This little basket holds the mail, but mercy, isn't it a sight!

I tied some of that open burlap/jute garland around it. Debbie @Confessions of a Plate Addict and I had seen a lot of this used at the Queen of Hearts - great texture. Debbie found it at Michael's.
These plates help hide the mail.....

And so does this plant and plate......

These cookbooks help hide the mail, too.

Not sure how this basket will end up, but it will keep its burlap skirt and it will hide the mail!
(White ironstone plates - GW 88 cents each).

I'm joining parties hosted by these wonderful ladies:
Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for Met Monday
Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for Today's Thrifty Treasures
Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for Tablescape Tuesday
Linda at Coastal Charm for Thrifty Nifty Tuesday
Be sure to stop by their sites! Blessings to you! Linda

Linda, you have such good ideas. I love all of your pictures on display. Adding the plant is a beautiful look, and then putting all the little pictures in a baskets is so clever. Love the jute ribbon around the basket. The plates and plants look fabulous in there too. Great ideas and such pretty vignettes. I am so thrilled you are linking to the party. Thanks. Hugs, Marty

Great ideas, but the basket with the maidenhair fern is my favourite ... it really paints a wonderful picture. The colour and delicate nature of the plant really complements the earth feel of the cane and jute.

Love the cabinets in the dormers, what a great idea. Your little vignettes all look so lovely. I especially like the way you've hidden the mail. I'm just afraid I'd forget it was there :) Kathy

Don't you hate mail! While important, I am never sure what to do with it and every time we have friends over, I scoop it all up off the counter and throw it in a drawer. Then I have to sort it all out after the party because the drawer is disorganized.

I always feel like that is just my personal problem but when I drop in on neighbors, they too have the "mail pile."

Great solution!

I love how you dressed up that basket with the jute/burlap ribbon. I also like your new arrangements in the dormer nooks. I know we can be consumed with framed family photos and you just run out of places to put them. I read Deb's blog too and love her new lamp. Where is this new thrift store y'all found?

Hi Linda,
I loved your comment about the pie, so true! You always have such creative ideas and i love to see what your up to. It's funny about the Mississippi, up North we think it's so upper midwest. I guess the Mississsippi really does span a long long way.
Have a nice week,
Cindy

I have the same problem with the pictures! I try sliding the newest one on the top, but with 4 little gkids there always seems to be a new pic to add!
I love your ideas, and GW finds.
