I have an important pillow question.....
to trim or not to trim,
that is the question???
In the past, I have made pillows with a flange edge....
I used brush fringe years ago.

This is a "store bought" pillow
with no trim on the edge.

I made this pillow recently
and made a contrasting cording.

I'm working on some fall/winter pillows,
and I'm wondering.....
should I use trim? self-cording? contrasting cording?
brush fringe? or nothing?
I looked through numerous decorating magazines,
and things seem to be simple - often no trim at all.
What do you think?
Do pillows look more "high end" if they have trim
of some sort?
Or is trim "passé"?
I'd love to know what you think...
Blessings,
Linda

I like little details and cording is my favorite! All of your pillows turn out so pretty, Linda! Have fun!

If you go to the really high end decorator stores, they are sometime way over the top with trims. I really like trims and if nothing else, I like cording. I think they look rather "cheap" with nothing at all. Just my opinion. Hugs, Marty
Linda I love trim and I love the floral pillows you made a while ago! My vote is for adding trim.
I love the pillows with the trim, it definitely takes them to the next level. Unfortunately, I haven't mastered that ability, so mine are trimless - but I am going to learn, they look so great with it!
I think its about the style in your room and of your furniture. Very traditional style , trim would look fine. something more potterybarnish lol-- trim would look a bit odd and out of place on most pillows. seems like simple cording bridges the gap between those two choices and still gives a very finished look.
Well...I am really no help...I like them all dressed up and just simple too.
Blessings,
Linda
I say do what you want and like best. Either way is good.
I think you should go with what you like, Linda! I just recovered the two pillows that came with our sectional and did no trim. But the lumbar pillow I sit between them I'm going to do a trim ~ just to break it up a bit. I'm using the fabric I got for the valances in the same room and I'll be using a coordinating fabric for a ruffle. I used that fabric for some covered buttons in the valance.
I love the seaside colors!
I'm with Marty....the untrimmed pillows look cheap and/or unfinished!! I use trimmed flanges, brush fringe or cording in my pillows, and it just seems to give them a nice "edge". Of course, this is MY opinion and not worth 2 cents :^).
Your daughter's home is lovely!! You trained her well!!
