Painting the Mantel & A Sassy Ottoman

I have drastically (for me) repainted the mantel.

Um, well, actually I've got to give the credit to Mr. Nest.

It was his idea to paint the mantel the darker color -

same color that we used behind the bookcases

on the opposite wall.

I love this updated look.

(Please disregard the dated tile surround!)

Before:  yellow walls and white mantel.

After:

SW Urban Putty on the walls and

SW Outerbanks on the mantel and backs of the bookcases.

While we were at it,

we had this pair of chairs recovered.

Since we had a pair of chairs and one ottoman,

we decided to make the ottoman different.

Before: matching chairs and ottoman.

I asked the upholsterer to change straight, hidden legs to these chunky legs.

Then, remove the skirt and tailor the piece,

adding 2 rows of nailhead trim.

Quite a difference with a little animal print, huh?!

I think it looks kind of sassy.

We changed out the chairs, too.

I'll show that later.

You know, just changing the paint color

gives a lot of "bang for the buck"!
