My French Country Home is having a giveaway. She found 10 beautifully monogrammed chemises - never worn - and you must create a story telling why they are all monogrammed "M.B.".
Well, actually it's quite simple. Une petite fille named Monique Babette suffered with terrible manners. Her mother, Marie Bellefemme, tried all kinds of rewards and bribery to get petite Monique to be polite.... a trip to la Tour Eiffel, un pain au chocolat, even un petit lapin (a little rabbit). Her grandmother, Mélanie Béatrice finally came up with an idea. All night long she worked, alongside mother Marie, to embroider "M.B." on 10 chemises for petite Monique...."Merci Beaucoup". Monique wore a different chemise for 10 days straight. Every time someone would greet her and say, "Oh, quelle belle chemise (what a beautiful chemise)", little Monique would just smile and say - with wonderful manners - "Merci Beaucoup!" Her mother and grandmother were so pleased! They carefully folded and pressed the chemises and tucked them away, looking as if they had never been worn. They intended to use this trick on Monique's sisters. I'm sad to tell you that Monique ended up with 5 brothers, so they were never used again!
Oh, by the way, I saw petite Monique the other day. She was playing on the lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower while feeding her little rabbit bites of her chocolate croissant!
Bonne journée! Linda
