We painted it last week, and I keep the stool turned backwards and tucked under the table part...sort of like a library table....because it works better for us and doesn't stick out.

Everything in this cupboard (except the rooster pitcher and the sound system - argh!) is a thrifty find. The Red Cliff casserole on the top left, the large tureen on the top right(just got it), and the pitcher on the left were all GW finds. The pitcher on the second shelf on the right was free with Green Stamps MANY years ago!

Instead of tabletops, I'm showing a couple of furniture tops.....the top of the cupboard has a large lantern and 2 VERY large - though they don't look it - Bibles from the 1800's that my husband found for free over 50 years ago.

On top of the fridge is a thrifty find bird cage and a humongous rooster that my daughter "made" me buy many years ago, and I'm glad I did!

And now for my French book cover.....I saw the most fascinating book at GW - $2.00 - "The Little, Brown Book of Anecdotes" - so interesting! Anecdotes by many people through the years. But first, the binding on the top had a dog-eared looking place. So I covered the book with some brown paper that I already had, stamped it with my French writing Stamp and then the fleur-de-lis stamp and voilà!
Here's an anecdote from the book that you music lovers might like: "At the age of two Mozart was taken to visit a farm, where he heard a pig squeal. "G-sharp!" he exclaimed. Someone ran to the piano. G-sharp was right."

Underneath the "French" anecdote book is a copy of "Les Misérables" that I also got at GW. It's one of my all-time favorite books! Anyway, an anecdote about it: "When Victor Hugo wanted to know what his publishers thought of the manuscript of "Les Misérables", he sent them a note reading simply: "?" They replied "!"

I'm working on my covered porch and have gotten this much accomplished.......

These queen sheets with beautiful black embroidery were a recent garage sale purchase for $5.
The lady said she used them once and didn't like the fact that they needed to be touched up with an iron. Doesn't bother me a bit!

Wow, Linda...so much to see! I love your new outdoor fabrics...so fresh and ready for summer! Is that the birdcage you got when I was with you? Gorgeous! You are so clever with your book cover! We have more than gotten our money's worth from those frenchy stamps, huh? The sheets are beautiufl! And the anecdotes...especially the Hugo...funny! Have a great weekend...hugs...Debbie
What a great post.

I love your new ironstone pieces and your hutch vignette is gorgeous. The top is fantastic too with the bibles, lantern and that wonderful jug. Now I really need to do something with the top of the fridge, yours looks great. So glad you got that rooster and the birdcage is a great find too. Your pillows are awesome. I love those colors and I really want to use them somewhere. Both of the pillows are gorgeous. I have some books that aren't pretty for display at all, what a great idea to cover them and then use the french stamp. I really need one of those. You and Debbie are doing some of the neatest things with them. Thanks so much for joining the party, this is all fantastic and so much great inspiration. Hugs, Marty
Linda, First I want to say thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving me such a sweet comment about my chair recovering job I am trying desperately to finish, Glad you like the fabric. I love your porch fabric, just look at my porch with the black and white stripes. I love that yours has my favorite color combination black, white and green. The green Ikat print is wonderful also. I don't think you will regret your choices at all. I truly love them. Thanks again for stopping by, Kathysue
Linda, clever idea for the book cover. I need to get my French stamp out and get busy. So many things I could be stamping! LOL
Love seeing the vignettes on the shelves and above the cupboard. Beautiful things! Enjoyed the little anecdotes you shared. What a fun idea for a book. Great find! ~ sarah
I absolutely love it all, Linda!
Wonderful post.
Love the book cover! So cute! And that book is right up my alley! Just FYI, a telephone has a "cord", not a "chord".....the musician in you came out there! The porch pillows are too cute!
I love all of your neat finds Linda and getting the one with green stamps reminds of when my Mom would go and pick her stuff out. I was always so excited to go with her, it seemed like a magical place. Great idea with the book cover and your porch is looking snazzy already!
Hugs, Cindy
So much that I love here! All your white pieces are beautiful ~ I've got white tureens on the brain lately. Love that large bird cage and your French cover turned out great!
Whew! Linda, you're a busy bee! Love all of your pretties and how you made the cute book cover. I'm gonna have to sit down now, you've made me so tired.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Linda, super finds for you. You know I love all those white dishes & that telephone table is pretty cute too.
Please tell me when you finish your covered porch, so I can live vicariously through you. I am def. yearning for a porch right now.
I have GOT to get a french stamp! Great finds! Thanks for sharing.

I'm visiting from Rhoda's thrifty party; You have a great eye for a terrific deal and you have displayed it all so nicely. That is the cutest little table and bench and it looks great in that colour. Très bien!
I love the grouping on top of the cupboard - especially the old books!

Love the little table -- and the book cover is just clever! And all of you white ware! Beautiful!
Having the table and the chair is a lucky thing. You don't usually see them together.
You have lots of style and the furniture tops look awesome. Good taste.
The phone table is adorable. I love ironstone tureens and I remember my mom once getting an iron with greenstamps.
Lots of gorgeous items! I love the pillows and outdoor fabrics! The ironstone is gorgeous!
Wonderful post. Really wonderful. Jackie
Hi Linda~What a lovely post and a lovely blog. I've decided to be your next follower!!
You brought back many a happy memory when you mentioned Green Stamps. My grandmother used to save the stamps and when my sister and I would visit we had the pleasure of licking them all. Once the books were full, she would take us to Augusta and pick out what we wanted from Service Merchandise, I think??
Anyways, can you tell me the name or maker of the fabric of the first pillow that you showed us? I love it. :)
Fondly,
Ann

Linda, I remember Green Stamps, too! We're "vintage" people, I think. LOL
Love what you did with the French stamp. I followed Deb's example & used it on some candles, which are in this week's MM post. I also took some shots of my front porch bench. GMTAlike!
Your white tureens are sooo lovely in the cabinet & I really like all your arrangements on top of things. You have the same talent for it as Deb & Kim & Marty & Susan & & & ... :-)

So many fabulous things in one place! I am really in awe of that sheet set though. What a great find! Having to iron them wouldnt bother me in the least either. (All you really have to iron is the part that shows)
I still have a picnic basket that I got before I was married with green stamps! It was such a hard decision!:)

Linda, You had a plethora of things to show us today! Love the transformation of the telephone table- great color. And the stamping on the book covering is amazing. Funny, I just covered 2 books yesterday- I need to go out and find a stamp! As I love white, seeing all of yours gives me a lift. *grin* How fun that you and Debbie go out and about together. Thanks for sharing all of your treasures.
:-) Sue

My grandma had a phone table too, though it's lost but it's wonderful that you have yours. Great redo as well and the repurposing is quite brilliant to me. Hope you'll have time to stop by. Jane F

I loved reading this post and looking at your great finds. I have the Les Mis book like yours. I read it when I was very young (a really long time ago) and it is one of my favorites too!
