Metamorphing and Better Late than Never!

I have a little "metamorphing" to show, a thrifty find, and a true confession. I'm joining Susan at Between Naps on the Porch where you will find fabulous mets. Thanks, Susan, for your faithful hosting of this event!

I found a pair of these mercury glass candle holders at GW - just $1.50 each. You can use them as a large and a small..........

Or stack them as one even larger pair. I like that versatility.

Now for true confessions. I have not read the direction booklet to my camera. That's okay, you say, you just got it and you are so excited to start snapping pics. Wrong. I have had it for almost 5 years and am looking for another one. Many of my pics were not as sharp as they should be and now the LCD display is "dying".

However, I have finally used the macro feature on close ups.

And, after about 5 of you mentioning "NO FLASH" in your blogs with photo tips, I finally got the message. My logic said - you must use the flash indoors. However, I finally got the direction booklet and read how to turn off the flash (so easy, I'm embarrassed) and discovered that you are right!
Photo with flash.....

Photo without flash..... ah, much better.

I'm practicing.....

Now, my next step is to do bigger pictures. I have done a test blog and "I get it!". However, I'm chicken to convert over. Bear with me.....I'm gonna do it! And I've got to decide on that camera! Do you like an outstanding camera that does NOT fit in your pocket, or a very good camera that does fit in your pocket. Blessings to you. Linda

Hi Linda and congratulations on all of your new camera knowledge! I do the bigger pictures and I was scared too but finally jumped in and now it's easy!
I've been having a fit working on a blog button. Well, I made my little graphic but that's where it ends. I can't get the code thingy right.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Wonderful post, Linda!

We are leaving on our road trip soon, but I'm doing a little bit of visiting first. I tried to visit a little every day, this past week, during my bloggy break. I even posted a little something this morning, so I'm not doing real well with this break thing, LOL.

Anyhoo...We just bought a Canon G11camera that fits into a pocket or purse and yet has lots of great features. The carwash photo and luggage photo in my post today, were taken with the new small camera. The other photos in the post, were taken with my Canon Rebel Xti...which is one of the big cameras. I like to have both large and small cameras. J prefers the smaller cameras and that's why we bought the G11. You can see a comparison of the photos in the post, I published this morning. The G11 isn't complicated and yet takes wonderful photos. My Rebel is a tad complicated...I've had it two years and still learning the ins and outs, but enjoy using it and the options it offers, plus I like the option for using different lenses.

Have a great week!

Hey...I have read my camera booklet and I have no idea what it said!!!
I changed over to live writer and it took some getting used too, but I love it now, so much easier, and you get the big photos.
Good luck.
Oh yeah, the mercury candle sticks are great!

Love the new candlesticks. They are wonderful. I finally tried Susan's tips for the larger pictures a while back and that is so easy and they turn out every time. I love it. I too have finally learned how to take pics without the flash. Now I'm trying to learn a little about Photoshop. A whole nother world. lol Hugs, Marty

Hi Linda,
I haven't read mine either, they just seem so dry, but maybe it's time~ Your pics look great and using the bigger pics is a breeze but you need to change your layout to a stretch minima to have it work correctly! Give it a go, you can always change back if you don't like it! Love your mercury glass, what a steal! Hugs, Cindy

Great candle holders. And I know you would not want me to give advice on taking pictures, ha ha.
It took me me a week to just learn how turn the flash off. And the rest of the features, well thats another story.

Love those candlesticks! They are so pretty, and such a bargain. I have a little Nikon coolpix for my "purse" camera, and a larger Nikon 5700 that I'm just learning the ins and outs of. Right now I'm still using it on the auto setting, but I'm staring to experiment with the manual. DH has a Canon D40 that takes gorgeous photos, but so far I've been afraid to touch it lol. Kathy

I love your candle obras. I want a better camera, the one that fits in the pocket is ok but I need a Nikon to get really good pictures.

Linda, I understand the struggle with the camera and taking a nice clear picture. I have the worst time and my pictures never look as good as the room or article does in person. Well at least we try!! Good job and great candlsticks, Enjoyed this post I can sooooo relate, Hugs kathysue

I am pretty sure my booklet is not in English--not my kind anyway. Anyway, that's why I had children...so they could explain things :) Love your mercury glass-you got a really good deal!

Your doing great! I'm still learning how to use my camera too, I don't know why but, computers seem so much easier than cameras to me.

I definitely prefer the bigger and better camera than a camera that its in your pocket. I have one of each. Also, a key to good indoor pics with no flash is plenty of sunlight. Pictures are gorgeous in pretty sunlight.

Love those mercury glass candle sticks. What a wonderful find!

I also covert a better camera. I use a pitiful coolpix point and shoot. I’ve read the booklet inside and out, even stood on my head to get the best shot. Maybe Santa will read this, ho, ho, ho!

My husband worked for Nikon for 20 years and bought a Panasonic little one that he loves. He has it with him so I cannot tell you which model. He also bought a little bit larger one Panasonic DMC-LX2 to take pictures of the chip wafers he works on at work. Very good camera. I use both for eBay and etsy and blog. I prefer the last one, but it's not as easy to carry around. If you want, leave me a comment and I will get his opinion on what is out now. These are about 2 years old.

Love the mercury candlesticks. Lucky you!
