I have a collection of silver baby forks....first, mine, then my MIL's, then my son's, and last, my hubby's with the last name monogram. Guess which one went through the disposal! Mine....I didn't know they had disposals then! Can you see the damage on the fork tines?
Oops, looks like the base of my fork had a spin in the disposal, too.

This is my silver porringer (sp?). Believe it or not, this is AFTER polishing. I should have taken a "before" picture and then it would be obvious. I considered spray painting it and thought the handle would be very pretty, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that. Anyway, now that tarnished silver is "in" (can you believe it?!) I am glad I restrained myself!

When in the world did people use salt cellars? These are very old, not sure how old, but somehow I ended up with 3 cellars and 7 spoons.

It's hard to keep silver protected from salt. I just polished these little spoons, and with the help of a magnifying glass, I noted that they are sterling. That was a surprise!

I'm glad to see that silver is getting its respect back. It seems that stainless, pewter, and armatele came in and took over. Don't you just think there is something elegant and timeless about silver? I think it mixes well with casual, too. Thanks Susan and Beth. Be sure and check out their sites for some great pics and info. Happy Sunday and Monday! Linda

Oh Linda, your silver is just gorgeous. I love it all. The forks are such a cherished heirloom. How wonderful to have them all. The salt sellers are fantastic too. Just lovely. I so agree, it is wonderful that silver is back in vogue. Hugs, Marty

Hi Linda! Love your silver! I've got my mom's and a bunch of it took a spin in the garbage disposal, too! Isn't it nice that we don't have to polish if we don't want to? Happy Sunday!...hug...Debbie
Beautiful silver pieces, Linda!
Thanks, so much for stopping by the Back Porch and your comment. I'm afraid my French is limited to the festivals in Saint Charles and a few other events and places, in the St Louis area.
Saint Charles was settled by the French. In fact, J's first ancestor, to arrive from France, was an early St Charles settler. Just about all old town Saint Charles festival names are in French. The title of my post is the actual name of the annual ice festival.
Oddly enough, over 200 years after the family arrived in the colonies, J pronounces French words pretty well.
Better than I!:-) He doesn't speak French, however.
I collect salts...so I loved the silver ones and the spoons! So great to have all the generations of baby forks. That is neat! Happy SS!
Hi Linda! Love the forks, what a great heirloom, even the one who took a spin in the disposal, lol....Christine
Just shows the resilience of silver!! Takes a runm through the disposal and is still timeless...

Love all of your pieces. I think salt cellars are from the Victorian era, but someone probably has already commented on that. xo Joan
Very cool pieces Linda~ I just figured out what salt cellars were a year ago after reading other blogs! I guess I am sheltered! Have a great week! Cindy
I just love SILVER. Love the collection of childs forks. How precious. Maybe a little silver leafing on the silver porringer would look lovely. I like it the way it is really.
Your silver is beautiful. Adorable children's forks.
My mother uses salt cellars and spoons all the time! She has a lovely collection...your spoons are fabulous!

Beautiful silver collection Linda. I love that you have all the baby forks, what a special heirloom. And I love the porringer! How neat that you still have this. Hope you have a great week. Kathy
Wonderful collection of silver. ♥ the salt cellar spoons and forks. Thanks for sharing.
Your heirloom forks are beautiful and unique, Linda. How lucky you are to have them. So, they are a little bent up, we aren't so fussy about silver anymore. It is perfect for it's imperfections.
I find the salt cellars to be a little useless in this day and age, but they are awesome to collect (if you have room to store them!!). Great SS and MM post!

Linda-I don't think silver ever truly goes out of style and if it does I am content to be out of fashion! I am SO glad you did not paint the porringer! I have always wanted some salt cellars--love yours!
Hi Linda!! I love your silver and you have some pretty pieces!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I wonder if your salt cellars would have had a blue glass liner to protect the silver. Mine do.
Your welcome Linda...hosting SS has been soooo much fun and meeting woderful bloggy friends just makes it all worth it!
Thanks for coming to the party...see you next Sunday!
