so I am joining them today with a little tweaking of the laundry room. By the way, this post was originally entitled "Tweaking the Laundry Room", but after reading Shelia's hilarious post ( at Note Songs) about the "Fallen Woman", I retitled this!

The view from the entrance to the laundry room.

A while ago I added this little GW gem to the right of the door for some storage in my teeny, tiny 30 year old laundry room.
At the time, I didn't show the laundry sink because.......well, she is just embarrassed! She really doesn't like her legs - does anybody out there identify with her? Yep, I do!

Are you ready? Here she is with her stubby legs and some laundry roomjunk necessities stashed under the sink.
OK, people, this is so embarrassing!
So I found this great French fabric ($3.99 at a small fabric store) that would work in my garden themed laundry room. Do you see "le jardin" below? For you non-Frenchies, that means "the garden"! How appropriate!
I found some burlap webbing with black trim at my local Ace hardware store for 35 cents a foot - that stuff is great! Only took 4 feet. I attached sticky-backed velcro tape to the sink and sewable velcro to the webbing, and voilà - no more exposed legs and necessities!

Yes, that was my microwave that you saw on the shelf above the cabinet. I have room in the kitchen, but I do not like microwaves - there, I said it - I think they are ugly and I was not willing to give up my double oven for a single oven with a microwave. I am stingy with my countertop space and prefer to be unpractical and decorate it! My microwave is only used to re-heat leftovers. Does anybody else out there have the same issues with microwaves? Oh, well, pardon me if you love your microwave.
I did add these cute little HobLob knobs (half price, of course)to the doors above the washer and dryer. I think they add a little pizzaz.

I think I'm finished with this room now.
Um.....well.......I do have in mind a sign that says "La Blanchisserie" - French for "the laundry room". Not quite sure how I'll make it....chalkboard? stencilled letters? any ideas? Eventually I'll get it done and then we'll move! Happy Monday, and drop by Susan's and Rhoda's for some great Thrifting Mets or Metting Thrifts???? Linda

Ooooh Linda!
This was a great idea and looks very nice. I love the french script on the fabric and the burlap band around the top makes it look so finished! Great idea and job with this. Love those black and white checked knobs too!
What a big change from just a few thing! I share your microwave hatred. We live in a historic house and once we renovate the kitchen and butlers pantry, we have wondered how to handle the microwave situation. We do have a laundry room right off the kitchen, so I may copy you!!!! :D Jewel
Hi Linda,
This is so darling!!! Your laundry room is very chic and lovely. The fabric was perfect and those little knobs are just the cutest! I think the little things can have such a huge impact! Happy Sunday, Cindy
Such a fab idea - well done you !
Now this is so clever and the fabric is just perfect. I love it. YOur laundry room is just so cute and functional. If you have to be in there it should be pretty and yours really is. Hugs, Marty
Wow! What a big difference! That fabric is so cute, and I love the knobs! Weren't we just over there 2 weeks ago? You've been busy!
Pulling out the fabric & velcro. Too cute. How did you attach that velcro to the sink tho ...help, please. TY TTFN ~Marydon
LOVE what you did with the sink! You're the only person I know who actually has a pretty laundry room. I purposefully keep mine ugly so I won't mind hiding all of my junk / clutter in there :) Super-fabulous!!!
I like how you hid the supplies under the laundry room sink with the pretty fabric.
I hate microwaves sitting on the counter. When we had the kitchen remodeled, I wanted an over-the-range microwave which also serves as an exhaust fan. The man at the applicance store tried to sell me one that had all the bells and whistles, convection, probe, etc. I told him that the only thing I use the microwave for is popcorn and heating up food. My double oven range is great, my microwave is basic and that's just fine with me.
I love skirts to cover my short stubby legs, too, so I am sure she is loving it! I love the fabric you chose, and it looks so pretty and fashionable now!!! Great job!
Suzanne
How totally adorable your sink skirt is, Linda! I love what you did, great way to cover it up. I used those same knobs on my kitchen corner cabinet, love them too.
Super cute re-do ! I would love a tub like that , if I had room !
Kammy

That looks really fabulous! I have a wall mount sink in mine that I'm thinking about doing the same thing to.
I dont really care much for my microwave either, but i have nowhere else to put it!
ooohhh la la! Love it!
WOW! What a difference! LOVE the way that laundry room turned out. Almost too pretty to work in. Do you think that will get you out of it? hee hee. That fabric is great & the trim is perfect! Thanks for sharing.
She looks so much better!! So proud with her new dress on! I love your laundry room!

I guess great minds think alike!!!
I love your fabric and the black/burlap banding.
Good job!
Rhonda
I love the fix to hide fat legs! Will it work for me?! LOL I guess that is why I wear LONG skirts. LOVE the little knobs too.
Love the fabric you chose. Your laundry room is just adorable!
You laundry tub looks charming. As for the sign, find some pretty scrapbook paper in the 8x11 size or cut a 12 x 12 sheet down, pick a font you like and print the saying out on the paper, then choose a frame you like and frame it. I find many of my frames at local thrift store, I'm fond of fancy gold frames, I buy them even when I don't have clue what I'll do with them because I know I'll use it eventually.
I love your laundry room. You did such a great job. I've been working on mine. I only have a laundry closet, so it's been a little bit of a challenge. Thanks for sharing.
What a CUTE laundry room! I love the storage and the skirt for the sink. You have everything placed perfectly ~ it's just so warm and inviting! I'll bet you actually don't mind doing laundry now. I sure wouldn't, if my room looked like yours! Thanks for sharing.
Your changes look reaally nice -- my laundry room is in my basement -- it is not and never will be a decorating space!
I hide my micro as well -- there is just something about them (and the TV as well!)
Beautiful! I'm with you on the microwave thing. I wish I had a laundry room off the kitchen!
Thanks for hiding her stubby legs with such a pretty little skirt. I'm sure she feels much better now.
Thanks for sharing, please stop by and say hi. Be Well!
THANK YOU! I have looked everywhere for that burlap web. Would never have thought of Ace Hardware, Your laundryroom is darling.
WOW! This is fabulous! I'm going to go to Ace Hardware and look for that burlap webbing. I have some from Joann's, but it's got a red stripe in it and I want black! :) Thanks for sharing! Artie (Niartist) Color Outside the Lines Blog
