Frenchy Pillow

Have you seen various designs for French fabric around lately? Some people are stenciling it, some are painting it, and some are buying this linen fabric. Since I am not a great painter (other than walls and furniture), when I ran across this fabric on sale.....in French and English.....and with our wedding anniversary - February 12 - on it, I decided to get some.

You will note a small piece of trim toward the bottom right of the photo.

I am a little perplexed why some writing would be in English and some in French, nevertheless, I like it. There was a pillow in the fabric store made with this fabric, this trim, and black flat edging. The price was $173!!! I thought, hmmmm, I can make that. The fabric was on sale for $30 a yard, so I bought 2/3 of a yard and will get 3 pillows out of it for $25! I have several down pillow inserts from GW for $2 and $3 each.

Ta da!!

The date is in English, but the paragraph of writing above it is in French.

This photo shows the pretty braid and then the flat black edging made from fabric left over from a sewing project a few years back.

I thought the corners were interesting. I give credit to the person - whoever he/she is - who made the pillow in the store. I just copied the idea.

Check out these little burgers and fries that Daughter made for Father's Day.

Look again, they are dessert - yep, cupcakes with a brownie inside, along with green icing and red icing to resemble lettuce and tomato. The "fries" are sugar cookies. That's some kind of metamorphosis! My daughter loves Bakerella's site, where she found this clever idea, along with LOTS of other great treats. Check it out!

I'm joining the following parties:

Rhoda at Southern Hospitality for Today's Thrifty Treasures
Linda at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday
Hope you have a wonderful week. Blessings to you. Linda

Great job on the pillows Linda! I have noticed downunder we have had a big surge in images of the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben and the Empire State Building...framed, printed on bed linen and other decor items all in black and white.
BTW I am not even looking at those burgers and fries in case I gain more pounds! LOL!!

That pillow is fantastic. You did a very good job on that. I will be making some pillows sometime. I haven't sewn in so long. I love pillows and can't wait to start. I love that fabric you got. I didn't know you could get that many pillows out of 2/3 yard of fabric. Good to know.

Hi Linda! What a great share! I'm loving this Fabric, what store did you purchase it from if you don't mind my asking? The Father's Day refreshments from your daughter are really precious, and I'm sure they were tasty! I'm hoping we can go with Debbie together sometime to the local Hamilton Mill Goodwill when you're up for a weekend Saturday! It might be fall though before I can go with you. I have a new grandson as of yesterday and we'll be heading to Charlotte twice montly for awhile. He is a doll! Have missed visiting you! Hugs! ~CC Catherine
